According to reports, a rumored HBO Max prequel series that revolved around Gotham City Police Department was put on hold. BatmanDirector Matt Reeves

“One thing that we’re not doing that I was gonna do… So, there’s the Gotham police show, which, that one actually is put on hold,” he told the Happily, Sadly, and Confused podcast on March 7. We’re not doing it.”

The show would not have been about the caped crusader despite the cultural affection.

Reeves said that “it wasn’t going to be an Batman story.” The story was about a corrupt cop and the GCPD, the worst gang of Gotham. And [Bruce]I would have traded paths with [Commissioner] Gordon. This would have given him someone to benchmark against but would have made it a struggle for his soul.”
