While the director claims she fired LaBeouf from her psychological thriller film, LaBeouf maintains that he quit. He detailed his reasons in an email to Wilde which he claimed he had sent. Variety.
“I am greatly honored by your words on my work; thank you, that felt good to read,” LaBeouf wrote in the message, per Variety. “I’m a bit confused by the story that I was fired. My exit occurred for the same reasons as you. I quit your film because your actors & I couldn’t find time to rehearse.”
He didn’t change his position. Olivia, you never fired me,” he said. “I fully comprehend the appeal of pushing this story, given the current social landscape and social currency it brings. But it isn’t true. It is not the truth. I am asking you, as someone with an eye towards making things right. All of this should be positive for you.
