This Grammys update doesn’t need to make you feel bad. 

There are two things you should know about this: Jack AntonoffSt. VincentAnd Taylor Swift were removed from the 2022 Grammy nominations list as songwriters for Olivia Rodrigo‘s SourIt’s a candidate for Album Of The Year. But don’t worry. There’s an explanation—and it all comes down to a submission error. 

According to the Recording Academy, “During submissions the Academy was given credits by the label for the song ‘Deju Vu’.” Variety. “Last Week, we got the credits correct from the label that recognized Annie ClarkJack Antonoff, Taylor Swift were the songwriters for an interpolation of “Deja Vu.” As per current Grammy guidelines Clark and Swift as interpolators on the track ‘Deja Vu’ are not nominated for album of the year in accordance with the Grammy Guidelines.

The Recording Academy guidelines aside, St. Vincent’s, Antonoff’s and Swift still have songwriting credits to some Rodrigo songs SourInterpolation has resulted in hits. Although all three artists are listed on “Deja Vu” since the song interpolates their 2019 track “Cruel summer”, Swift and Antonoff also get credit on the song’s young star’s song “1 Step Forward,3 Steps Back” which interpolates “New Year’s Day” from 2017.
