Now, in hindsight, the Hall of Fame athlete attributes his behavior to “being greedy” during his relationship with Shaunie. He said, “I was in the best situation.” He said, “I had it all. “I don’t excuse myself; I am aware that I made mistakes.” 

Shaq shared that he felt “lost” for a time after his divorce and how his family encouraged him to return to the game.

“I said to myself, ‘OK, you’re not married, but you still have to protect and provide for this family,'” he said. “I may not be a husband, but I’ll always be a father, and a father’s job is to protect, provide and love.” 

It also includes taking care of the women in his family.

“I’m blessed to have been blessed by two amazing women, who have brought me wonderful children. It’s the reason I work so hard. “I don’t have to work for anyone; I already have it all.” “I have to do what they ask; I must work for my six children.”

Shaq has revealed to Shaunie that they have rekindled friendship after their split and is one of her greatest supporters.  

She’s content now. He shared that she was about to marry an excellent young man and he is happy for her, in reference to Shaunie’s 2021 marriage to Pastor Keion Henderson. We have a wonderful relationship. But, as I get older, and dwell on situations I can honestly say it was all me.”
