The last few months have been difficult for ABC’s comedy. The ABC comedy was in crisis until December Jeff Garlin—who played McLendon-Covey’s onscreen husband Murray–left The Goldbergs after multiple complaints about his behavior on set resulted in an HR investigation. McLendon Covey plays Beverly the family matriarch and is now weighing in.

After being interviewed by a journalist, the actress replied to that tweet. Noel Murray tweeted a clip from the show, writing, “they should either cancel The GoldbergsOr kill Jeff Garlin’s character. The workarounds that they have been using in this season’s episode ain’t working.

The Goldbergs—which first premiered in 2013—is currently in its ninth season. Since Garlin’s departure, the series has superimposed his face into some scenes and has used a body double. At the time of his exit, the actor was believed to have had one more day of shooting left, according to Deadline.
