The Modern Family actress is taking a serious turn for a new Netflix drama, GriseldaShe will be playing a real-life Columbian drug cartel member in the series. Vergara will not only star in the drama but will also executive produce the limited series.

Vergara’s new show will feature her in a role very different from the one she played as a character on ABC’s sitcom. The performer will take the role of: Modern FamilyFashionista to savagely ambitious Colombian mother, and businesswoman. Blanco’s story is well-known to those not familiar with her. She was nicknamed the “Black Widow” as well as the “Cocaine Godmother” because she is credited with creating one of the most profitable drug ring in history.
