Freeform’s new comedy Single Drunk Female takes a closer look at the recovery process. It’s a starring affair Sofia Black-D’EliaAs a twenty-something, drunk Samantha, the series examines what happens to you when your public reputation hits rock bottom and is forced home.
Through Alcoholics Anonymous, Samantha is tasked with looking at her life and her loved ones, including widowed mom Carol (Ally SheedyIn a fresh light. And, as Black-D’Elia explained to CelebHomes News in an exclusive interview, this recovery story is unlike any we’ve seen before.
“I think that we don’t often see stories of recovery told from a younger female perspective,” she shared. She said, “I think it can affect anyone at any stage of life. You also know that this condition is extremely specific. Simone [Finch]Our creator, this is her real life.
Though this is “a really specific story,” per Black-D’Elia, Single Drunk Female is not just about getting sober.
