Olympian Shaun White is ready to retire from competitive snowboarding after the current 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
On Saturday, February 5, U.S. Olympian and World’s Most Famous Snowboarder made an announcement about his future career during the 5th Olympic Games.
“This has all had its amazing glow to every single decision and every single competition because I’ve decided this will be my last Olympics,” White said at the men’s snowboard halfpipe press conference, held in the city of Zhangjiakou. “I gave it all. I’ve had my share of ups and downs along the journey to this point. But I felt stronger and better after all the ups and downs.
The 35-year-old athlete, who won halfpipe gold medals at the 2006, 2010 and 2018 Olympics, has signaled before that this would be his last Olympics. At the press conference, however, he was even more specific.
He said that he believes this will be his last contest, which is quite special.
