Netflix has been subject to renewed criticism following the release of “The Netflix Effect”. Ricky Gervais‘ Netflix comedy special featured offensive jokes about the trans community.

Comedy special SuperNature, released May 24, Gervais made multiple comments about trans women, including openly trans actress Eddie IzzardGervais, on Gervais’s behalf, said that he was “as brilliant as this man in that thing.”

Gervais addressed trans women’s body appearances. She said that “the new ones” were what she’s been seeing recently. They have beards, and they have c–ks. They’re just as beautiful as gold. I love them.”

Then he discussed Kevin HartAfter homophobic comments surfaced, he decided to resign as host of the Oscars 2019. Gervais, who hosted the Golden Globes five times, said that it’s difficult to “predict what will be offensive in the future” as there’s no telling who the “dominant mob will be.”

“Like, the worst thing you can say today—get you cancelled on Twitter, death threats—the worst thing you can say today is, ‘Women don’t have penises,’ right?” He went on. He continued, “Now that’s something no one expected.” You won’t find a ten-year-old tweet of someone saying, ‘Women don’t have penises.’ Why? You don’t know why?
