Megan said that her children have been kept away from social media to reduce any impact that it may have on their views of the world. She also explained that the kids attend school with “similar beliefs” as other parents.

Megan stated, “So far we have done a good job. We maintain their innocence in many ways. But I know that I cannot protect them forever. Though I do have one child who suffers.” So I worry a lot about this, as I wish humanity wasn’t like that. My child is brave, my son is brave and I am certain that this is a journey they chose for a reason. As a mother, it’s hard.

Based on Glamour, Megan was moved to tears when talking about her children, struggling to express how difficult it is to protect her children from judgment and discrimination. While it was difficult to share, she knew she had to because issues of discrimination based on gender expression are important, simply stating, “I have to be honest.”
