Your favorite gay best friend is going to live on. 

Sex and the CityActor Willie Garson sadly died on Sept. 21, after a battle with cancer, in the midst of filming the reboot, Just like that. Many fans wondered what the fate of his character after his sudden death. 

Now, Just like that showrunner and Sex and the City executive producer Michael Patrick KingIt has been revealed that Garson’s passing was not part of the storyline for the reboot. This means that Carrie Bradshaw is still surrounded by Stanford Blatch who was her best friend and confidant.

In an interview on December 3, with The New York TimesKing addressed our questions regarding the fates of Mr. Big and Samantha Jones, as well as Stanford Blatch.

“Nobody’s dead,” King said. “Nobody.”

King provided a brief explanation as to why Garson’s death wasn’t written into the show.

King said, “Because that wasn’t charming.” King said, “And I was certain that the audience would have known.”
