Price added that while we were able to verify Griner’s condition, “we will continue to work closely with her legal staff, and her broader network to see that she is treated fair,” adding that the U.S. government would “continue to do all we can” in order to guarantee Griner gets fair treatment throughout her detention.

CNN reports that this was Griner’s first visit by U.S. officials since February when she was arrested. The two-time Olympic gold medalist was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling at an airport in Moscow last month after Russian authorities allegedly found vape cartridges with cannabis oil in her luggage.
