She stated that she saw the beautiful turtle upside-down with hopelessness in her eyes and her body entrapped in a net. I immediately began to remove her from the fishing net which was holding her captive, but she refused to go back into the sea.
Gisele then took matters into her hands. She added, “I picked her up without thinking twice and took her into the water.” She said, “I was relieved to be able to let her go free and I am grateful to have been able to assist.”
Gisele, who chose a sea turtle as her “kindred species” as part of the U.N.’s ‘Wild For Life’ campaign in 2016, urged her followers to take care of the animals in their area, writing, “I pray that we can all rise and remember that the opportunity to change begins with a single act.”
