Tony Hawk is hopeful that his latest injury won’t keep him from surfing the pavement.
A 53-year-old skateboarder posted on Instagram that he fractured his leg March 7, 2017. He is now expecting long-term recovery.
In the blog post, he said that yesterday was “sucking”. I broke my elbow 20-years ago, and made a complete comeback. This recovery for a fractured femur (and me) will be more difficult. “But I’m ready for the challenge.
In addition to his own reflection on the injury, the doctor shared video footage of his fractured femur and photos of him standing in hospital.
“I’ve said many times that I won’t stop skating until I am physically unable,” Tony said. “A broken leg—with plenty of hardware—will probably be the biggest test of that creed.”
