Cora attempts convincing Will to believe in the serpent’s existence. But he doesn’t.
He says that the serpent “is an invention” in the trailer. It is a sign of our times.
Cora, frustrated by his unwillingness to listen, uses the creature as a means to attack Will’s belief system. Will tells her, “I would rather believe in an invisible God than a creature that people actually saw.” That’s blasphemy.
