The Weeknd Says He Might “Pull a YE” and Change Name Like Kanye West

As Ye is, so Abel.

The WeekndHis real name is Abel Tesfaye, teased on Twitter that he might “pull a YE” and legally drop his last name to only go by ABEL.

He wroteMarch 3, 2012, “i feel that i should change to ABEL stage name at this point lol.”

In another tweet, he continued. writing“Maybe I’ll pull a YE to legally change my name from ABEL. no last name. Similar Madonna or Cher or Prince. “I don’t really know why it feels like so much.”

In context, pulling a Ye is referred to as Kanye WestName change. In October 2021, a judge approved Kanye West’s request to alter his legal name from Kanye Omari West to simply Ye. 

The Weeknd teased fans even more by trying out the possible name reference, adding“ABEL formally known by The Weeknd?”
