The singer’s latest hit “When You’re Gone” not so subtly referenced his very public breakup with pop star Camila CabelloFans may be shocked to learn that she was able to get a preview of the song before it was released.
“Camila heard this song months ago, so we have a really honest relationship,” Mendes exclusively told CelebHomes News’ Erin LimOn the April 1st episode of Daily Pop. “I wouldn’t put any song about her out before she heard it.”
Heartbreak is a big inspiration for many musicians, something both he and Cabello understand when it comes to songwriting.
He shared that “She knows me, I know her and, ultimately, both of us are writers. We both understand what it means to create music and the larger picture of art.” He added, “We support that, always.”
