A touching title card told viewers that “In Memoriam of Gaspard Ulliel” was the ending credits for this episode.
Ulliel plays Mogart, a charismatic art collector, who is good friends with Layla El-Faouly, played by May Calamawy. In the episode, he arrives shirtless on horseback for a meeting with Layla and Marc Spector (Isaac). Layla and Marc aim to confront Mogart about a sarcophagus in his possession, and eventually begin trading hands.
Calamawy, despite the onscreen brawls, recently remembered Ulliel’s true identity as gentle and hardworking.
“It’s the true definition of a tragedy when I think of Gaspard,” Calamawy told Entertainment Weekly. “He was friendly and so warm. He was so friendly and warm that we spent a whole week filming this scene together. He was funny and committed when we spoke to him. Because he was generous, it was great fun working with him.
