Scott Peterson‘s sister, Anne Bird, believes “justice has been served” by having him taken off death row and resentenced to life in prison for the 2002 murders of pregnant wife Laci Peterson and their unborn son Conner.
Scott has not been charged and was originally sentenced in 2005 to death by lethal injection. Because of problems in jury selection, the California Supreme Court resentenced Scott to death. Scott was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Laci on Wednesday, December 8. A judge also sentenced Scott to 15 years in prison for their unborn child’s death.
“While I do not agree with the death penalty, justice has been served and just punishment is in place and should stand,” Bird, 56, said on a public Zoom call with powerhouse attorney Gloria AllredThursday, December 9, 2009. Scott must be kept in prison throughout his entire life. It is not permissible to commit murder. All of my past comments are valid. “I hope all those tied to such a terrible and painful history one day will find some peace.
