Queen Elizabeth IIA new portrait was released to mark the start of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations on June 1st. This regal image was captured by photographer Ranald MakechniePer Royal Communications’ press release, the photograph of, taken on May 25th in Windsor Castle’s Victoria Vestibule.
Mackechnie took portraits of Queen Elizabeth II two times before, once for her 90th Birthday in 2016, and again in 2020 in honor of the start of a new decade. Mackechnie expressed her gratitude for being asked to capture the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at Platinum Jubilee.
On the photo, the royal monarch can be seen in a light-blue coat and gown with diamond and pearl trim. The Round Tower of Windsor Castle is visible behind the royal monarch through the window. King Charles II’s statue can be seen in the background.
In anticipation of the Platinum Jubilee Holiday Weekend, Her Majesty’s last portrait of Her Majesty was posted to the royal family’s Instagram page on June 1. It also included a message about the 70 years service that Queen Elizabeth rendered during her reign.
