On Saturday, Feb. 26, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were honored at the 2022 NAACP Image Awards with the prestigious President’s Award in recognition of their social justice work and their fight for equity worldwide.
Meghan spoke onstage, marking the couple’s 2022 first public appearance. We can carry on that tradition today by reestablishing federal voting protections and honoring the legacy of civil rights giants like the late Cecil B. Moore. John Lewis.”
Harry said, “Before I begin, we would like to acknowledge the people of Ukraine, who urgently need our continued support as a global community,” referring to Russia’s recent invasion of the country.
I also want to express my gratitude for tonight’s award as well as the community that welcomed me so warmly. He said that although I have a different story than my wife’s, it is safe to say our lives are connected for a purpose. He said, “We have a shared commitment to living a life that is of service to others, to fighting injustice and to the belief that the least heard are those who deserve our attention.”
