Late Show Production Team Arrested at U.S. Capitol

For their production, police have taken a team of producers into custody The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and charged them with unlawful entry at the U.S. Capitol.

Seven people comprised the crew, which included Robert Smigel, the man behind the popular puppet Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and the group was detained after filming a comedy segment in the area on June 16.

Capitol Police (USCP), was called to report a disturbance in Longworth House Office Building. Capitol Police released a statement to Deadline. Responding officers found seven people, unaccompanied and lacking Congressional ID in a hallway on the sixth floor. This building was not open to the public. The USCP had directed the individuals to exit the building earlier that day.
