In an Instagram message, the 47-year-old talk-show host apologized for making light of Johnny Depps defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, in which he’s accused her of implying that he abused her in a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post.

Barrymore explained, “It is my regret that I made fun of Johnny Depp’s and Amber Heard,” Barrymore. “And that is why I want to deeply apologize for this and express my gratitude for everyone who has spoken out. This can be a teaching moment for me as well as how I go forward and how it affects how I behave.”

It Charlie’s Angels star added that she will be a “more thoughtful and better person moving forward because all I want to do is be a good person.” 

Since April 11th, the trial has been in media attention. There are many things that have been revealed about Depp’s and Heard’s relationships. Heard is accused of copying Depp’s court attires.
