CNN placed Chris on indefinite suspension earlier in the week. This was just days after New York’s Attorney General released text messages, testimony, and other information that, according to the network, “shed light on Chris Cuomo’s participation in his brother’s defense.”
CNN spokesperson said that transcripts were released Monday by New York’s Attorney General. They shed new light upon Chris Cuomo’s participation in the brother’s defence. We are concerned about the seriousness of these documents which were never made public before they were released.
An official from the network stated that Chris “had admitted” previously to CNN that indeed he “offered advice” his brother’s team.
CNN reported that “He violated our rules” and they publicly acknowledged it. “But, we appreciated the unusual position he was placed in and understood that he had to place family first and his job second.”
But despite coming forward with his involvement, the network said that the New York attorney general’s report, which included transcripts of Chris’ testimony, painted a different picture.
Documents released earlier this week revealed that Chris offered to help Andrew find out how many women were accusing him of sexual harassment, NBC News reported.
“I would,” Chris stated, per the documents obtained by NBC News, “When asked, I would reach out to sources, other journalists, to see if they had heard of anybody else coming out.”
In light of Chris’ testimony, the CNN spokesperson told CelebHomes News, “These documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. In light of Chris’ testimony, the CNN spokesperson said that Chris was now suspended indefinitely and awaiting further evaluation.
