Although they had initially planned on getting married in 2020 due to pandemic, their plans for a family were delayed. As a result, they turned their attention to starting a family—something Wendt told People in May that they had “spent a year of trying” before seeking other options to get pregnant.
“We did IUIs!” [intrauterine insemination] before doing IVF [in vitro fertilization]. Loch shared his experience with the publication. It is more disruptive than IVF, so we tried that first. However, our second cycle ended in an ectopic birth. … I ended up having to take medication to terminate the ectopic pregnancy, and then it pushed our whole thing back another two-and-a-half months.”
Wendt said, “We spent many nights in tears because it just wasn’t working out for us. As a child, we were taught not to become pregnant. However, it seems like everything is so simple on TV. But then you try it and it can be really difficult.”
