Behar, who had been a presenter on the talk-show’s daytime program since 1997 was forced to resign in 2013. But she didn’t complain. 

She stated, “I was pleased to be fired.” TIMEOn July 27, “I was basically sick of watching the show at that moment for some reason. I can’t even recall why.”

In her absence, however, ratings began to plummet and former The ViewExecutive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlinShe knew precisely what she had to do.

She revealed that she just “knew” we had to get back in the cultural conversation. “I was aware of it.” [Behar]I was going to be that person. “She’s been always the one who speaks for the audience, but she is scared to speak.” 

Behar was eventually able to return to the show in 2015 and has been there ever since.
