One disappearance, two roommates. No answers. 

During an exclusive sneak peek at Oxygen’s new true crime docu-series Fatal Frontier: Alaska’s Evil. Airing Sunday, November 14, an ex-police officer from Alaska explains what actually happened 18 years after the disappearance of a person. This special premiere features a two-part episode that revisits a report by a young Indigenous woman called Timayre Towarak filed in August 2003. 

“Nome is a small town in Alaska,” retired police officer of Nome P.D. Byron RedburnIt begins to explain. It is a party place. Nome has reported some missing persons, but they have yet to be located. This has been happening for many years.” 

According to the National Crime Information Center, Alaska is fourth among the nations for missing and murdered Indigenous women. There are currently over 5,712 cases of murdered and missing Indigenous women in the U.S. 

Nome can be found at the Iditarod Trails’ end. A resident says that Nome has “a bad reputation” because of residents from surrounding villages who come into town and go missing.
