Maggie and Negan The old spinoff name has been taken out of business.

Anonymously known as Isle of the Dead, AMC confirmed Aug. 25 that The Walking Dead spin-off, led by Maggie (Lauren Cohen) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), will be called The Walking Dead: Dead City. In the show’s original announcement, AMC said the series will follow Maggie and Negan as they travel “into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.”

According to the network, the city was “full of the dead” and that there are “denizens living in New York City who have created their own universe full anarchy danger beauty terror”.

Veteran Walking DeadCo-executive producer and writer Eli Jorné serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series, which will have a six-episode first season. Cohen and Morgan expressed their joy at the news of the series’ spinoff when it first was announced in March.

“I’m delighted that Negan and Maggie’s journey continues,” Morgan said. It’s been a great ride to walk in Negan’s shoes. I am beyond thrilled to join him in New York City. It’s always been cool to see Walkers in an urban setting, but 5th Avenue Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty. What is the best city in all of America? The backdrop is amazing, but it’s the story that Eli Jorné cooked up that is even better.”

Cohen shared a similar sentiment. She said, “Maggie’s very dear to me and I’m excited for her journey against New York City’s iconic backdrop, along with my friend, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.” Eli Jorné has created something incredibly special and I cannot wait for the fans to see what we have in store for Maggie and Negan.”
