The World’s Most Expensive Houses

As shocking as it may be, there are homes that sell for tens of millions, hundreds of millions, and even billions of dollars. These homes exist all over the world, belonging to some of the wealthiest and most affluent human beings on the planet. The most expensive of these homes are as follows. 

$1 Billion Home in Antilia, Mumbai, India 

The most expensive house in the world is this $1 billion home in Mumbai, India. Known as Antilia, it consists of 27 stories and possesses 400,000 square feet of space. It was designed by Chicago-based architectural firm Perkins & Will. 

Currently, it’s owned by businessman and billionaire Mukesh Ambani, housing himself, his wife, and his three children. Consisting of a ballroom, an array of helipads, a gym, an unbelievable number of guest rooms, and a 168-car garage, it’s an absolutely staggering domicile. 

$750 Million Home in Villa Leopolda, Villefranche-sur-mer, France

Built by King Leopold II, the King of Belgium, in 1902, France’s Villa Leopolda was last valued at approximately $750 million. An aesthetic beauty, it’s characterized by a large swimming pool, a greenhouse, a helipad, and a variety of other luxuries. In total, it contains 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms and sits atop 50 acres of land. 

Currently, the home is owned by Lily Safra, the widow of a Lebanese banker. She has owned the estate since 1999. 

$446 Million Home in Hong Kong, China 

While not as big as some of the other houses on this list, this home (known as the Detached House) in Hong Kong is certainly just as expensive. Due to the city’s lack of space, this 4-bedroom, 4 1/2-bathroom house is valued at approximately $446 million.

Now, this isn’t to say that it’s lacking in functionality or style. Equipped with a large and inviting pool, it’s as staggering as any other luxury home you’ll ever come across. It just lacks the size of some similarly priced homes.

It has stood since 1991.

$418 Million Bubble Palace in Cannes, France 

One of the most unique houses on our list is the Bubble Palace in Cannes, France. Valued at $418 million, it is characterized by a random series of bubble windows. Formerly owned by fashion icon Pierre Cardin, it overlooks the Bay of Cannes. 

This house sits atop 13,000 square feet of land, containing 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. With an asymmetrical shape and circular rooms, it’s completely different from any other home you’ll come across. 

Some of the amenities of this house include a swimming pool and an amphitheater, to name just two.  

$400 Million Penthouse in Tour Odeon, Monte Carlo, Monaco

Next up is the Tour Odeon, a residential tower located in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Unbelievably, the penthouse located in this building is valued at $400 million. 

It contains 35,500 square feet of space and provides a 360-degree look upon the water below. The coolest part of this home? It contains a pool and a waterslide on its 560-foot-tall roof. 

$315 Million Chartwell Estate in Bel Air, California 

The most valuable home in the United States is the Chartwell Estate in Bel Air, California. Listed at $315 million, it was originally established in the 1930s. Characterized by 18th-century neoclassical architecture, it houses 15 bedrooms and 18 bathrooms in total. 

There is no shortage of amenities in this house. Not only does it house a ballroom, but a wine cellar, a hair salon, a tennis court, and more. 

In the 1960s, this house acted as the TV home for the Clampetts on the television show “The Beverly Hillbillies”. It has since undergone massive renovations. 

$260 Ranch in Molokai, Hawai 

Not only is this ranch in Molokai, Hawai expensive, but it’s also expansive as well. In total, it covers 55,575 acres, comprising 35% of its entire home island.

It’s characterized by several landscapes, including sandy beaches, tropical rainforests, pastures, cliffs, and more. In total, it covers 20 miles of coastline. 

Some of the amenities you’ll find on this property include a cattle ranch, a hotel, and two golf courses. 

$250 Sandow Lakes Ranch in Rockdale, Texas, USA 

Geographically speaking, Texas is one of the biggest states in the US. As such, it contains a bevy of big and expensive properties. Topping these properties is the Sandow Lakes Ranch, a 32,000-acre ranch in the town of Rockdale. 

There is plenty to see on this property, from marshes to wetlands to natural wildlife and more. Its sprawl seems to go on forever, almost making it a town within a town. 

Valued at $250 million, it’s a rural dweller’s dream (as are some of the houses sold by this real estate company). 

$249 Million Home in Fair Field, Sagaponack, New York 

New York’s most expensive home is located in the town of Sagaponack, a portion of the Hamptons. Named Fair Field, it sits upon 63 acres and is valued at a price of $249 million. 

The home itself contains 110,000 square feet and includes 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, 3 swimming pools, a pair of courtyards, a Jewish synagogue, a home theater, a bowling alley, and a basketball court. It even contains its own power plant. 

It was built and is owned by billionaire Ira Rennert, an investor, in 2004. Located along the ocean, it’s as staggering as it is beautiful.
