Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp showed his softer side by buying his former partner Vanessa Paradis a $4.4 million home in the Hollywood Hills for her and their two children Lily-Rose and Jack. The couple never married and their 14 year relationship officially came to an end last year after the couple moved back to Los Angeles from France.

The 5,800 square foot Mediterranean home is set on a wooded lot just off Mulholland Drive. With five bedrooms and five bathrooms the estate also includes exposed beams, a large fireplace in the roomy living room, a huge kitchen with center island and a large adjacent family room. The grounds are immense and meticulously cared for with a large swimmer’s swimming pool and spa. The property also boasts breathtaking views of the California hills and the valleys below.

Although not much is known about the couple’s parting of ways one thing is quite obvious, Johnny Depp is no pirate, nor is he holding to the norm when it comes to relationship breakups and even though he has had his mix ups in the past with his temper he is showing that he can be a nice guy as well and he seems to be working on the kinder more giving side of his personality with his latest gift. The $4.4 million price tag is a sizable gesture for the mother of Depp’s children but it is a drop in the bucket when you consider that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star has netted more than $300 million from his box office hit film career.

Even though the estate is exquisite it doesn’t compare to compare to the two lavish homes Johnny Depp owns in France and the private island he bought in the Bahamas back in 2004, which is said to boast some of the world’s most beautiful reefs and can boast six white sand beaches, a private harbour and a palm tree lined lagoon.
