Live broadcast of the 94th Annual Academy Awards will be held at Dolby Theatre, March 27, After last year’s limited-capacity ceremony at Los Angeles’ historic Union Station due to COVID restrictions, the show returns to its usual home at the corner of Hollywood and Highland.

Even though the broadcast is only a week away there are already rumors. The Academy plans to remove eight categories from their primetime show. These include Film Editing (original score), Production Design, and Editing. Pre-show ceremonies will award the axed categories starting at 4:00 p.m. with extracts from the nominee announcements and winners speeches being edited into the broadcast.

Over 350 members of the business community, including directors signed a petition to overturn the decision. James Cameron and Guillermo Del Toro, writer Tony Kushner composer John Williams But the Academy hasn’t budged.

Oscars producer Will Packer The broadcaster has justified the decision by arguing that the time is right to make some changes.
