Harry and William made sure that their children knew everything about Diana. In March, for instance, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed that, every year on Mother’s Day, their children—Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis—make cards remembering “Granny” Diana for William. And in Diana, Our Mother: Her LifeAnd Legacy, William said he’s “constantly” talking about her with the kids.

“I do regularly, putting George and Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just trying to remind them that there are two grandmothers. There were two grandmothers in their lives,” he said in the 2017 doc. “And so, it’s important that they know how she was and she existed.”

In his Apple TV+ docuseries with Oprah WinfreyTitle This is the Me You Will Not See, Harry recalled how one of the first words said by his son Archie Harrison was “grandma.”

“I’ve got a photo up in his nursery, and it was one of the first words that he said—apart from ‘mama,’ ‘papa,’ it was then ‘grandma.’ He said that Grandma Diana was his grandmother. It’s sweet, but it also makes me sad that she shouldn’t be there.
