The HBO Max Series The StaircaseFirth portrays the novelist who was accused by his wife of killing her. Kathleen Peterson, in December 2001 (he entered an Alford plea to manslaughter in 2017). The British actor speaks and moves with impeccable similarity to the Southerner, a task that the actor told CelebHomes News was the easy part of the role.
Firth said that understanding was the biggest challenge. WhoHe was just playing. He said, “It wasn’t so much. Can I imitate him?” CelebHomes News asked him. He said, “It was whether my cadences, vocal foibles and all these nuances could tell me anything… It was quite unfathomable to me.”
Firth stated that Peterson wanted to explain why he spoke in the manner he did. This would allow him to “take me through his thoughts or show how he presents himself.” But answers eluded him, despite having documentary footage and more resources.
