Cheryl Tiegs is considered the first supermodel of all time. With her “All American” beauty she graced the covers of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editions, and posters of her are still some of the most popular even though they first appeared forty years ago.

Tiegs has recently put her Bel-Air Mansion on the market for $12 million. The home sits on 1.43 acres of land in the very affluent neighborhood of East Bel Air. The exterior and interior of the estate were designed to give the inhabitants the feel they were living in a Balinese oasis.

The 4,770 square foot home has a resort-like master suite, which is one of the five bedrooms with four and a half bathrooms. The interior, designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard, whose clients include Cher, Elton John and Kid Rock, features dark hardwood floors, wood columns and wood framed sliding glass doors.

The grounds contain a guest house, staff quarters, a large swimming pool, fountains and lush plants.

Tiegs bought the estate in 1985 for $2 million and has done major renovations on the property and home, which accounts for the increase in value along with the rising property value and of course her own celebrity status.

Cheryl Tiegs began modeling at 17 on the covers of Glamour, Seventeen and Elle. She is the first model to appear in three different Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, on the cover of People four times and three times on the cover of Time.

Tiegs is also the first supermodel to venture into the retail world by starting a signature line of clothing and accessories for Sears. Her clothing and accessories line have sold nearly $1 billion of merchandise in a 10-year span.

Cheryl Tiegs is also a popular guest on shows that focus on issues involving fitness, fashion and beauty.
