On May 16, while on the stand as part of Johnny Depp‘s $50 million defamation lawsuit against her, the actress opened up about her role in 2023’s Aquaman 2. Following her 2017 stardom, Justice League and 2018’s Aquaman, Heard is set to reprise her role of Mera in the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Heard says that she was not involved in the decision to cut her off after Depp’s ex-lawyers called her abuse claims a “hoax” in 2019.

She testified that she was first given a script and then received new scripts that removed scenes with action from it. “That depicted my character and another character—without giving any spoilers away—two characters fighting with one another. My role was basically taken away by them. They took out a lot of my stuff.”

Heard said that she could not renegotiate her contract once the fact had occurred and that it was impossible to do so. Aquaman and The Lost KingdomIt was her final film under contract.
