UPDATE: A wife Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was sentenced on Tuesday, Nov. 30, to three years in prison, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice obtained by CelebHomes News.

Emma Coronel Aispuro‘s sentence will be followed by four years of supervised release due to “charges related to international drug trafficking, money laundering and a criminal violation of the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (the Kingpin Act).” She pleaded guilty in June to three counts of criminal information.

Aispuro conspired with her husband—who the department described as “a leader of the Mexican drug-trafficking organization known as the Sinaloa Cartel”—to bring drugs into the U.S.

According to the release, she was involved in the trafficking of heroin, cocaine and pot and was also a conspirator with the activities of the cartel from 2011 through 2017.

The authorities added that “U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras entered a forfeiture judgment against CoronelAispuro in an amount of $1 499,970. This represents proceeds and property CoronelAispuro derived from her drug-trafficking activity.”
