Hollywood Unlocked was praised for bringing out a lot of cheers on Feb. 22 when they declared that the long-reigning monarch died at the age 95.
“Sources close to the Royal Palace notified us exclusively that #QueenElizabeth has passed away,” the blog’s Instagram post stated. “She had been scheduled to attend the marriage of British VogueEditor Edward EnninfulBut he was declared dead. The story is developing.”
A few hours later, the website shared another post standing by its story. Instagram flagged it as false information.
Hours BeforeThe report was confirmed by a Buckingham Palace spokesperson. The statement stated that Her Majesty was still suffering from mild cold-like symptoms and she had decided not to take part in her virtual engagements. However, the spokesperson for Buckingham Palace confirmed that she would continue light duties.
Many royal watchers thought Hollywood Unlocked was wrong but the CEO and founder of the site stood behind it.
