CelebHomes. You stated that this perfume has been your signature fragrance for at least a year. It has become your signature perfume?
“Oh, sure. For sure. It is so hilarious. My life has been kind of documented through perfume. It could be the ending of a chapter or the start of another. I believe it correlates with the relationships that I am in. After I have ended my relationship with someone, I switch to a different fragrance. Some women have their hair cut, but I simply change a scent.
It is really exciting to go on this self-reflection journey, looking back at past scents and what kind of vibes were I into. “This will be my new perfume for the rest my life. This is my personal fragrance.
CelebHomes – Does the scent trigger any special memories?
This chapter in my life was where I had the most fun. That was the source of inspiration. I was in my mid-20s. It was my mid-20s. I wasn’t worried about anything. My adult responsibilities were not as important to me. I wasn’t able to carry the whole world around on my shoulders as much as you do.
Just a few days ago, I was strolling around Paris with some friends. We were going out. This was before social media. The two of us were having a blast and just enjoying the new experience.
It was my intention to capture those feelings and smells, and blend them into this fragrance. That is what I believe we accomplished.
Yes, this perfume is definitely something I will use to categorize my time with it. “It will be fascinating to see how I feel 10 years later.”
CelebHomes: I heard you say carefree. Is there anything else this fragrance evokes in you?
It takes me away from my worries and makes me feel empowered. But, at the same, with its earthy notes it also gives me a sense of groundedness and power. It is very refined.
CelebHomes: It’s great to have something that makes me feel grounded and more confident, no matter if it is a perfume or beauty product.
“It’s like a source of comfort. It’s like the final touch to all my beauty products, from skin care to hair and nails. Just before leaving the house, I make sure to have my perfume on. It feels like it’s an expression of who I am. This is my favorite scent, it’s special and unique.
It is so wonderful. “I have to praise them for doing such an excellent job.”
CelebHomes – I realize this is an arduous question. But can you summarize the fragrance in one word?
“I’d say it is sophisticated. This is what I like about this particular fragrance. This fragrance has a very full and rich body. You really do get to go on this adventure. It really allows you to feel the various notes. You can sometimes forget about the subtleties of a scent, but this one takes you along on the adventure.
It’s the day after that you smell it on clothes. When clothes smell just like somebody, do you recognize that person? It brings out so many emotions, and that is what I love. It is fluid. It’s fluid. The story it tells is continuous throughout your time wearing it.”
CelebHomes: I love putting on a sweater that I haven’t worn in a while and it still kind of smells like the fragrance I was wearing.
That’s what I love. This is my favourite part. My man smells like his shirt, so I start to smell them. This is so strong. It’s a great part.
CelebHomes: Have any of your friends tried out this scent? Let us know what they think.
“They have. “They have. I really only worked with the Snif Team and didn’t outsource any opinions. The scent was not available before its release, and everyone experienced it right away.
Because my friends can be very harsh critics of me, I was anxious. But, I received a text from one my closest friends last night, which said that he thought this was the most amazing scent he’d ever smell. It’s always nerve-racking to let something out into the world. It’s important to hope people love it. But if they like it that’s sufficient. It’s just as good to have the approval of people who hold you in high regard. All of them love it. It’s a hit with my girlfriends. It’s a wonderful project. This is truly an act of love.
CelebHomes – We discussed signature scents. Did they feel like this when they smelled it?
“Totally. “Totally. They were like, “This smells just like me.” This smells just like the one you’d make. It’s amazing.
CelebHomes – What fragrance trends do you see right now? When creating your fragrance, did you take into account any of these trends?
One of our biggest trends is the gender fluidity of scents and fragrance notes. These are traditionally associated with one gender. It’s so outdated to think of perfume for men and perfume for women as the same thing. My preference was always for traditional cologne fragrances. This is where I grew up and also where I shopped. People want to discover scents that are meaningful and enjoyable, not be told which scents should they wear. It is so outdated. Snif was a wonderful partner in this project. It allowed us to completely eliminate gender from the discussion. Suganami was designed to be loved and worn by anyone and everyone.
CelebHomes. I love the combination of apple and tobacco.
“Oh, love. That’s something you wouldn’t normally see advertised to you and it just seems so ridiculous. It’s outdated to tell us that we must subscribe to certain scents just because our gender is different. My preference is for menswear. “We like what we like, and that doesn’t mean it should be limited to our gender identity.”
