Tony was actually killed off by the seven-time Emmy Award-winning writer, but it didn’t go according to his original plan. 

“The scene I had in mind was not that one. Chase explained that he did not think of cutting to the black. Chase also spoke out about the controversial ending. Some viewers thought their cable had been cut. “I had a scene where Tony came back from New York in his car. He came from New York to New Jersey at the beginning of each show. The last scene could be him returning from New Jersey to New York for a meeting where he was going be killed.
