Shia LaBeouf Almost Played Oliver in Call Me By Your Name

Timothée Chalamet Oliver was almost called Oliver by another name.

A portion of this excerpt was published by GQ, Ivory recalls meeting with LaBeouf in New York City, where the Even Stevens actor did a reading with Timothée, who played Elio, Oliver’s lover.

Ivory claims LaBeouf was “dropped from contention” after a string of “bad publicity.”

The screenwriter, who was originally supposed to direct the film, went on to say, “Luca cast Armie Hammer and never spoke to, or of, Shia again.”

Ivory was “doubtful” before considering LaBeouf. Transformers Star could do Andre AcimanHe does justice to his character. “He’s an extraordinarily good actor,” he said. He would be a stretch as an academic writer about Heraclitus, however.
