This Academy Award-winning actress stars as Pam HuppIn the February 25 trailer, NBC shows you its upcoming series. Pam. The show, which premieres March 8, tells the insane real-life story of Hupp, who is currently serving a life sentence for the 2016 murder of Louis GumpenbergerHe is also the primary suspect in 2011’s murder of Betsy Faria.
But that’s not just what made Hupp a new acting challenge for Zellweger. Hupp’s story also features surprising exonerations and false identities, as well as a love affair for Big Gulp-esque coffee cups.
As you’ll see in the trailer, Zellweger is almost entirely unrecognizable, as she dons a wig, make-up and body suit to transform into Hupp. Zellweger also infuses Hupp with a campy, ominous nature, which has made her such a fascinating—and terrifying—figure. She remains cheerful and carefree as the investigators and cops circle her, even deadpanning, “it’s only getting worse…trust me.”
It is possible that we will be asleep with the lights on tonight.
