Naya Rivera‘s family is settling a wrongful death lawsuit over the Glee actress’ accidental drowning.
According to online court records obtained by CelebHomes News, a settlement was filed on Feb. 24. On March 16, a hearing has been scheduled. The judge will officially sign off on the matter.
CelebHomes News received a statement from counsel representing Naya and her 6-year old son. Josey Hollis-Dorey confirmed that all parties have entered into a global settlement, which is subject to approval by the Ventura Superior Court.
The statement stated that Josey would receive compensation through this settlement for the loss of his mother, who drowned at Lake Piru. Although the loss of Josey’s mother cannot be undone, the financial settlement will greatly assist Josey in his recovery.
Naya vanished on July 8, 2020 while taking her son to Lake Piru for a boat ride. After authorities discovered her son on his own boat at the bottom of Lake Piru, an investigation was initiated to locate the actress. After a days-long search by law enforcement and emergency personnel, Naya was found dead on July 13.
