Mishael Morgan made history at the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards.
The Young and the Restless star, 35, picked up the trophy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the June 24 ceremony, making her the first Black actress to win a Daytime Emmy in the lead acting category.
In her acceptance speech, she stated that “I was born in a small island in the Caribbean” and that she is being recognized for excelling in what she does. It’s not difficult for little girls to achieve excellence in any industry or vocation.
She said, “I must thank all the fans and everyone sitting at home.” You embraced me as I was introduced to this program and they are very proud of my generation.
