A new interview was conducted with The Independent, Kirsten Dunst—the actress who starred as the Mary Jane Watson to Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man in the 2002 movie and its 2004 and 2007 installments—got candid about her compensation for the role and just how much it differed from Maguire’s.
She said that the pay gap between her and Spider-Man was “very extreme”. It was something I didn’t think of. I was just like, ‘Oh yeah, Tobey [Maguire]Spider-Man.
She knew that she was just as valuable as her title character in the sequel. You know the person on the second cover. Spider-Man poster?” “Spider-Man and ME?” she inquired. “Spider-Man, ME.” Dunst declined to provide further details about Maguire’s pay.
