Hilary answered, “Ofcourse.” When Hilary was asked whether she felt trapped in certain roles by her bubbly character’s precedent, Hilary said, “Yes.” I still am.” It’s still me.” She recalled that rejections would come often at auditions or callbacks, with the excuse “We know Lizzie McGuire”
Hilary continues to love Lizzie, despite her constant association with the character. She was supposed to reprise Lizzie’s role in a Disney+ series. Unfortunately that project fell apart in December 2020. As she said in her latest interview, “I really don’t want to talk about the version that almost was or could be.”
At long last, Hilary has come to “peace” with her relationship with Lizzie.
“It was something I had to consider.” [Lizzie] a lot. My lines blur between her and me, which I feel is a good thing for everyone. They will always be. I think just accepting that has brought me a lot of peace,” she shared. She said, “That doesn’t mean that I have no backbone or drive. I have vision.” All of these things are mine.”
She continued, “Now I’m like, ‘I love her.’ She’s amazing. You made everybody feel great.”
