When you take into account the flamboyant costumes and stage performances that Cher has included in her acts over her 5 decades in entertainment, it is a little hard to believe she would own such a small and uninspiring condo. Especially when you consider her mansion in Malibu, but it isn’t hard to believe she would want to sell it.
Cher recently put her Venice condo on the market for $1.89 million. The three bedroom condo comes with a combined kitchen and living area, stainless steel appliances, and sliding glass walls.
Outside there is a roof deck, a small yard with a backyard shower and outdoor kitchen. One of the best parts of the home is right in the middle of trendy Venice, within walking distance of all the shops, bars and art galleries. Cher bought the condo in May 2010 for $1.54 million.
Cher became prominent in 1965 as half of the folk rock husband and wife duo Sonny and Cher, who popularized a particular smooth sound that went up against the British Invasion of the time and held it’s own. However, it is believed that the duo lost popularity in the United States because of the couple’s drug-free lifestyle during the time of the drug culture of the 1960s.
The couple returned to popularity in the 1970s with the immensely popular television show, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. After Sonny and Cher divorced in 1975. During the balance of the 1970s Cher experimented with various musical styles, including Disco and New Wave and became the top-earning live act in Las Vegas.
In the 80s and 90s Cher proved that she also had the talent of an award winning actress with several successful films to her credit.
Cher remains the only person to receive several honors across a wide spectrum, including an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, three Golden Globe Awards and the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
