We are sorry, Che haters.
Just like that… showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed season two of the HBO Max series is in the works and will take place three weeks after Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) moves to Los Angeles to be with her lover, nonbinary stand-up comedian Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez() who will play a central role in the new episodes.
Fans who believed Che wasn’t a fan of this information will probably be offended by it. This Comedy is funny. King doesn’t let the viewers affect his plans for Miranda or Che.
King said that Che was “One of my most burning passions in season two.” Variety in a June 1 interview. “I want to show the dimension of Che that people didn’t see, for whatever reason—because they were blinded, out of fear or terror. It is my goal to display more Che than I do of Che. Like, really.”
It’s perfectly acceptable. Ramirez plays the role of the dissident comedian. They shared their stories Variety that they don’t pay attention to the jokes their character has inspired but they understand the discussion because Che is “complicated and messy and human.”
