Anterior American Idol winner Laine Hardy says he is cooperating with Louisiana State University police after receiving a warrant over a “sensitive” allegation.

A 21-year old contestant in the singing competition won Season 17 and has been released without being charged. On April 28, the Louisiana native reached out via Instagram to request privacy.

“Earlier today, I received a warrant due to allegations made against me and have been fully cooperative with the Louisiana State University Police Department,” he wrote. “I am aware that my professional career thrust me in the spotlight. I accept that and embrace it wholeheartedly. All of my world is my music and my fanbase. This allegation is sensitive and I respectfully request privacy.

Hardy said, “I have the greatest respect for the law. I will help in their investigations as necessary moving forward.”
