Interest and development in AI tech has exploded in popularity as businesses around the world are incorporating it into their businesses. Research on AI has more than doubled since 2010 and private investments in AI have gone up by more than 18 times since 2013. Adoption of AI tech across the globe has risen dramatically as over 25% of US businesses and millions of companies globally are already using AI. Over 60% of people expect their lives to dramatically change in just the next 3 to 5 years because of AI. Much of the recent attention and excitement around AI has come from ChatGPT, which hit 100 million monthly active users in January 2023, becoming the fastest growing application in history.

This recent popularity has led to the myth of ‘human free’ AI. Without human intervention, AI has and will make serious mistakes that are costly and dangerous. Amazon’s AI recruiting tool displayed bias when reviewing resumes and an AI soccer camera on a Scottish soccer team tracked a player’s bald head instead of the ball during a game.
