Triumph the Insult Comedian Canine is out of the doghouse.

4 days after Capitol Police confirmed the favored puppet, voiced by Robert Smigel, and seven members of The Late Present‘s manufacturing workforce had been arrested and charged with illegal entry to the U.S. Capitol, Stephen Colbert addressed the incident on the June 20 episode of the late-night program.

As Colbert defined, the Late Present staffers and Smigel had been detained whereas filming further “jokey” scenes on the Longworth Home Workplace Constructing in Washington D.C. They’ve since been launched.

Whereas discussing the incident, Colbert referenced the Jan. 6 assaults on the Capitol, which is at present being investigated by the Home choose committee, saying, “The Capitol Police are way more cautious than they had been 18 months in the past and for an excellent motive.”

“The Capitol police had been simply doing their job, my workers was simply doing their job, everybody was very skilled, everybody was very calm,” Colbert continued. “My staffers had been detained, processed and launched. A really disagreeable expertise for my workers.”
